We would like to invite you to premiere of the curated video program DIVA Station Presents IV in Vienna, in Blickle Kino, placed in 21er Haus, Quartier Belvedere, Museum of Contemporary Art on Wednesday, 7 June 2017, at 7pm.

In partnership with Ursula Blickle Video Archiv and with the support of Skica the archive will be presented for the first time in Vienna. The program will include the presentation of DIVA Station by Barbara Borčić, program advisor, curator and head of video programs at SCCA-Ljubljana, a screening of curated program DIVA Station Presents IV and a discussion moderated by Claudia Slanar, the curator of the Ursula Blickle Video Archive at the 21er Haus – Museum of Contemporary Art.

We would like to invite you to Slovenian premiere of the curated video program DIVA Station Presents III in Slovenian Cinematheque in Ljubljana on Tuesday, 4 April 2017, 8pm.

Synoptic video program, entitled DIVA Station Presents III, was curated by Barbara Borčić. The premiere program was successfully introduced last year – at first in the LACE (Los Angeles Contemporary Exhibitions), then in Brooklyn (New York), where we were hosted by organization UnionDocs (unDo) Center for Documentary Art.

Curated video program will now have its debut for the local audience in the Slovenian Cinematheque. Selection presents 17 video works which are divided into three parts: From analogue to digital, From memory to fiction and From impression to digression.

The title of the programme (curated by Jasna Jernejšek) is taken from the Miha Vipotnik’s video, entitled Lenora in which he metaphorically addresses the possibilities of artists to question the incomprehensible paradox of death, or „enigma of death“ as Hans Belting designated it. The idea of death that exceeds biological finitude of human body is based on complex mixture of processes, socially accepted knowledges, expectations, beliefs, rituals and everyday practices which are integral part of the cultural definition of death.

The selected artists contemplate the idea of death in various ways. How is one touched upon the death of the (beloved) Other? Is death possible without life, and the opposite, is the life without death possible? How to deliberate one’s own death? How to see one’s own death given that it is impossible gaze which is a source of numerous fantasies? The artists of this programme do not offer unambiguous answers but rather reflect their personal experiences in their own expressive ways.

A selection of works from DIVA station, prepared by Neža Grum and Luka Polutnik titled Thank you for your attention!.

In today’s time we face an abundance of information, which are outlining our daily routines and often divert out attention. The curated video programme explores attention deficiency on two levels. The selection of six video works tries to catch the viewers’ attention and at the same time test it and look for reasons for its absence. It tackles it with humour, sexuality, meditation and spirituality, provocation, repetitivity and materiality.
